Our People

Home / Our People

We are proud that every person involved with the Disability Law Service brings their unique experience and skills to help us support disabled people, their families, and their carers.

Unified by our passion for disabled rights and access to justice, we are grateful to receive support from our Patrons and Trustees to help us fundraise, highlight our policy work, raise awareness of our campaigns, and fight for disabled rights within the law.

Our staff are a small, experienced team who keep the Disability Law Service running on a day-to-day basis. Our staff are the first point of contact in providing legal advice through our face-to-face workshops and via our helpline, with the support of our volunteers.

President, Lynne Brooke

Lynne Brooke has been a solicitor for over 40 years and a trustee for Westminster Mencap and Kith & Kids, a parent self-help group for people with learning disabilities.

Lynne’s eldest daughter has profound and multiple learning disabilities and it was his involvement with Kith & Kids which inspired him to begin the Disability Law Service in 1975 to help parents and carers enforce their rights and access legal advice.

With his experience and guidance, Lynne has overseen the development of Disability Law Service from our beginnings in a community centre in Camden to the organisation we are today. We are tremendously grateful for his years of dedicated service and support to our mission.
